The West African Examinations Council, with its Headquarters, in Accra, Ghana, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions in its Nigerian National Office and the Lagos Department of its Headquarters.
POSITIN 1. SUBJECT OFFICERS
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized University in the under listed subject areas:
1.Music.................B. A/ B. A (Ed) Music, knowledge in the use of Finale/Sibelius Software will be an added advantage
2.French................B. A (Hons) French, B. A (Ed) Fresh
3.Clothing and Textiles B. Sc Home Economics
4.Government.. B. Sc / B. Sc (Ed) Political Science
5.Economics B. Sc / B. Sc. (Ed) Economics
POSSESSION OF HIGHER DEGREE IN EDUCATIONAL MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION WOULD BE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE.
A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience is required for Subject Officers
POSITION 2. RESEARCH OFFICER
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B. Ed (Hons) (at least Second Class Lower Div) in English Language and M Ed in Measurement and Evaluation from a recognized University. A PH. D WILL BE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE.
A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience is required.
POSITION 3. APTITUDE TEST DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B Ed b(Hons) (at least Second Class Lower Division) in either Chemistry, Physics and English and M Ed in Educational Measurement and Evaluation from a recognized University.
A minimum of three years post qualification teaching experience is required
POSITION 4. ACCOUNTANTS
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized University and must be Associate Members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
A minimum of three years post professional qualification experience.
POSITION 5. INTERNAL AUDITORS
Qualifications and Experience
The qualifications and experience for Internal Auditors are the same as in 4 above (Accountants)
POSITION 6. SENIOR PURCHASING/PROCUREMENT OFFICER AND PURCHASING/ PROCUREMENT OFFICER
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a recognized University and must be Associate Members of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply Management of Nigeria with a minimum of three years post professional qualification experience
Applicants for the post of Senior Purchasing/Procurement Officer must have a minimum of six years post professional qualification experience
POSITION 7. SENIOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER/PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICER
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of Bachelors Degree (at least Second Class Division) from a recognized University with at least three years experience in Public Affairs Department of reputable organization or in the editorial or reporting department of a reputable media outfit.
Possession of higher degree and Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) will be an added advantage.
Applicants who have not majored in Mass Communication but who possess graduate diplomas in Mass Communication are also eligible
Applicants for the post of Senior Public Affairs Officer must have a minimum of six years post qualification experience.
POSITION 8. COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess a minimum of B. Sc (Hons) (at least Second Class Division) in Computer Science or equivalent from a recognized University with at least three years experience.
Applicants should have functional knowledge of at least three of the following languages:
Visual Basic (Visual Studio. Net) Visual Foxpro, COBOL, C++, JAVA.
Applicants should also be familiar with the following operating systems: MS-DOS, Windows 2008 Server (and beyond) OS/400, and Open VMS. Knowledge of the following applications will be an added advantage.
(i)Data Base Management – SQL SERVER 2005 (and beyond) and Oracle
(ii)Network Management – Network and Web Design
APPLICANTS FOR ALL POSITIONS MUST:
be able to use personal computers, office software packages and have knowledge of web-based systems
be self motivated able to write good reports: analyses and reviews research reports; be able to work extra hours with little or no supervision
be team players with good inter-personal skills; be open and able to lead change
possess influencing skills
be organizers/planners with ability to be flexible and finishers with ability to successfully implement ideas
possess analytical and communication skills
NOTE: Applicants for all positions must ( in addition to their degrees and professional qualifications), possess five credits including English Language and Mathematics at a sitting in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE “O” Level,
Applicants should not be more than 35 years of age as the close of applications except those for the positions of Senior Purchasing Procurement Officer and Senior Public Affairs Officer who should not be more than 40 years.

The salaries paid by the Council are very attractive, Point of entry into the salary scales will depend on qualifications and experience.
