CAREER OPPORTUNITIES


Our client is a financial sector development organization, funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; with a focus on promoting financial inclusion in Nigeria.  As a result of the successful growth of its organization, our client is seeking the following professionals and subject matter specialists.

REF: M-01-RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The role ensures clarity and relevance of initiatives by making available credible information on market developments and imperatives in the Nigerian financial sector for use by internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:
·        Develops and implements research strategies in line with the organization’s operational objectives
·        Manages research projects and market research firms
·        Designs qualitative and quantitative research methodologies for conducting research on financial sector issues
·        Prepares engagement contracts and service level agreements for research partners and consultants
·        Prepares assessment reports of research partners/consultants
·        Issues terms of reference for various requests for proposals
·        Analyses and presents research findings

Skills/Competencies
Strong research, analytical and reporting ability with good communication and interpersonal skills,  Success in this role demands diligence, attention to details, creativity, strategic thinking and leadership.  Attention to detail is essential.  Proficiency in the MS suite and other statistical software i.e. SPSS, Stata, etc.

Education and Experience
·        Post Graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, International Development or related field
·        Minimum of 8 years work experience, of which 5 years must have been in conducting research
·        Familiarity with Banking, Microfinance and access to finance issues will be an advantage


REF: M 02 – FINANCE MANAGER
The role ensures the successful management of the finance and accounting operations

 Key Accountabilities:
·        Formulates and implements financial policies and processes in compliance with accepted accounting practices and applicable statutes
·        Develops the organization’s annual plans, budgets and financial performance metrics
·        Develops and updates financial guidelines
·        Assists in the development and maintenance of sound financial controls in the organization
·        Prepares comprehensive and timely financial and management information, including tax, cash flow and statutory accounts for the organization
·        Maintains on-going liaison with relevant external bodies/contacts e.g. regulatory organizations, auditors, solicitors, donors grantees, banks.etc
·        Prepares budget variance reports

Skill and Competencies:

Good at working under time pressure and able to solve complex financial problems.  The person must be self-motivated, diligent, and must demonstrate strong analytical skills, leadership and the ability to communicate effectively.  Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.  In addition, competence in the use of TALLY 9 accounting software is required.

Education and Experience:

·        First degree in Accounting, finance or Economics with a professional certificate-ACA
·        Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, of which 2 years must have been in audit
·        Work experience in the big 4 auditing firms/exposure to international accounting practice is an advantage

REF: S 03 – SENIOR ASSOCIATE

The role ensures that information on the Nigerian financial sector is relevant and useful in designing products that expand the financial services sector in Nigeria

Key Accountabilities:
·        Conducts desk reviews, literature reviews and produce relevant reports
·        Assists in the design of methodologies for qualitative and quantitative research conducted
·        Monitors progress of projects against agreed timelines and milestones
·        Provides relationship management support with research partners and consultants
·        Ensures data integrity for all surveys/scoping studies conducted
·        Assists in disseminating research findings

Skills and Competencies:


Experience in statistical modeling and analysis is essential.  Must be competent in report writing and project management,  In addition, the individual must possess excellent communication ^ presentation skills and a natural inclination for creativity and original thinking.  Proficient in the use of relevant computer applications (MS Office, SPSS, Stata, etc.).

Education Experience:

·        Post Graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, International Development or related field
·        Minimum of 5 years work experience, of which 2 years must have been in conducting research

REF: S: 04 – Communications Officer

This role focuses on supporting the development and implementation of the organization’s Public Relations (PR) strategy.

Key Accountabilities:

·        Liaises with the organization’s PR agency to ensured the implementation of the client’s branding and communications strategy
·        Assists in planning, designing and coordinating the PR and communication campaigns for the client’s innovation for a and workshops
·        Maintains and develops the client’s database of industry contacts, associations and consultants
·        Updates the client’s website
·        Provides support to colleagues on all PR related

Skills and Competencies:

Proven ability to develop and manage relationships with a diverse audience.  Good knowledge of media tools.  Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills are required for this role.  Success in this role demands sound judgment, initiative and discretion at all times.  Proficiency in the use of MS Office suite i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Education and Experience:

·        First degree in English Language, Journalism, Social Sciences or related field
·        5 years work experience in communications and information management, journalism/publishing or PR in a corporate environment
·        Prior experience in the financial sector will be an advantage.

REF: S 05 – RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

This role provides effective support in generating and providing useful market information on the Nigerian financial sector

Key Accountabilities:

·        Conducts desk reviews provides general research support on the client’s surveys and scoping studies
·        Develops evaluation reports for all completed research projects
·        Prepares reports and policy briefs on specific assignments
·        Assists in the preparation of work plans and status reports for each research project
·        Provides supports in collecting, collating and analyzing the research data
·        Maintains a database of access to finance related research conducted locally and abroad.

Skills and Competencies:

The individual required for this role must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as an energetic and proactive approach to work.  Experience in the use of statistical Software SPSS, Stata, etc, desirable,

Education and Experience

·        First degree in statistics, economics, international development, public policy or related field
·        Experience in statistical modeling and analysis
·        Minimum of 2 years work experience

REF: S 06 – FINANCE OFFICER

The role provides support to the Finance Manager to ensure the successful management of the finance and accounting operations.

Key Accountabilities:

·        Prepares journal vouchers for al expenses such as purchase orders & invoices; office expenses; and suppliers and consultant invoices
·        Maintains the petty cash and reconciles expenditure
·        Assists in preparing the documentation for cash advance for domestic and foreign trips for staff
·        Maintains the fixed asset register and coordinates procurement and disposal of fixed assets, as required
·        Prepares monthly reports for WHT schedules, accounts payable, VAT and fixed assets

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate must be articulate and possess advanced analytical and problem solving skills.  Attention to details and accuracy is essential. Must be proficient in the MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.  A good team player with the capcity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.  In addition, competence in the use of TALLY 9 accounting software is required.

Education and Experience:
·        First degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
·        Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a corporate environment
·        Student member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria or related professional body
